Valentine's Day
I remember our first Valentine’s Day;
Our love was young, I feared it might go away;
Sent you a dozen Brandon flowers and a Gerber daisy in the
bouquet.
Forgot to make a reservation that night;
Got in the car, balloons packed in tight;
Went looking for a restaurant, I was going to try and make
it right;
Put a receipt on the candle, and I nearly set the whole
place on fire
February fourteen is just another square
On the calendar, I don’t think it’s fair that
It never turns out perfect, something’s always wrong
I forget a gift or someone’s working long but
As long as I am with you, my darling baby ray
We can make it Valentine’s every freaking day
Valentine ’s Day comes again
I spend a lonely night hanging out with my friends
All the while I am dreaming about the moment when your shift
will end
Still in love and recently engaged
I spent my time planning the perfect date
But it was your turn to work at the nursing home until late
And you’re changing old man diapers just pretending that it’s
all okay
February fourteen is just another square
On the calendar, I don’t think it’s fair that
It never turns out perfect, something’s always wrong
I forget a gift or someone’s working long but
As long as I am with you, my darling baby ray
We must have started a terrible tradition
It’s Valentine’s today, and I’ll be missing
But I wrote you this song to remind you while I am away
That every day I’m with you is a perfect Valentine’s day
February fourteen is just another square
On the calendar, I don’t think it’s fair that
It never turns out perfect, something’s always wrong
I forget a gift or someone’s working long but
As long as I am with you, my darling baby ray
We can make it Valentine’s every freaking day
every freaking day
every freaking day
every freaking day
